Botox in Delafield

Expression intact, the lines eased.

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. Board-certified dermatologists use precise injection techniques to smooth forehead lines, frown lines, and crow's feet while maintaining natural facial expressions.

Overview

Botox works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to targeted facial muscles, reducing their ability to contract and create wrinkles. Results typically appear within 3-7 days and last 3-4 months.

When performed by an experienced dermatologist, Botox injections can achieve natural-looking results while preserving facial expressiveness. Treatment is customized to each patient's anatomy and aesthetic goals.

What to expect

  1. Consultation to discuss goals, review medical history, and develop a treatment plan
  2. The face is cleansed and injection sites are marked
  3. Very fine needles are used to inject small amounts of Botox into targeted muscles
  4. Ice may be applied briefly to minimize discomfort and bruising
  5. Aftercare instructions are provided, including avoiding rubbing the treated area

How a botox works

  • Botox contains purified botulinum toxin type A, which blocks the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction.
  • This temporarily prevents muscle contraction in the treated area, allowing overlying skin to smooth and wrinkles to soften.
  • The effect is localized to the injection site and does not affect sensation or other muscle functions.

When it's recommended

  • Forehead lines (horizontal lines across the forehead)
  • Frown lines (glabellar lines between the eyebrows)
  • Crow's feet (lines around the outer corners of the eyes)
  • Bunny lines (lines on the nose)
  • Neck bands (platysmal bands)
  • Facial slimming (overactive and large jaw muscles)
  • Chin dimpling
  • Wrinkles around the mouth ("smoker's lines" – vertical lines above the lip)
  • Lip flip (to subtly increase volume of upper lip)
  • Brow lift (to subtly provide lift to the brows)
